Moderately more expensive than the Classic range, these would in all probability be considered more of an accessory than the Classics which, although neat and pretty, are more functional.  The Folding Purse hanger is attractive by design, functional , and then folds away for storing in our purse.

Only marginally dearer than the Folding Hook,  there are the Bracelet Handbag Hooks which, just like the name suggests, you can wear , making them not only stylish but practical – a really elegant personal or purse accessory, but still fulfilling the function of a handbag hook , keeping our bags off the floor. 

Some of the current designs are extremely handsome and, it could be said, you really don’t need a purse to accompany them!

In the end, all three designs are functional, unique and elegant and all are priced reasonably.  If we care to make the effort, for little extra cost, our purses can be more hygienically safe.

Whats hidden in your purse

In one of my previous articles , I mentioned that these days our handbags were not only items of necessity, a mere ‘repository for all our daily girlie needs’, but had become fashion statements. Our Editor raised her eyebrows and questioned the word ‘repository’! Thesaurus’ definition of ‘repository’ is deposit, store, stock, cache, heap! etc. OK, so I was using the word with my tongue in my cheek, but let’s see what we girls do carry in our bags .

 

Our day-to-day basics would certainly be:  purse wallet  /credit cards, cosmetic bag with make-up and perfume, brush & comb, hairspray, keys, diary, Filofax and note pad, pen, hankies, packet of wet wipes, glasses, purse hanger and cell phone with cellphone hook.   Phew !!  and I think in the main this is just the beginning !   We can add to this a somewhat by including a couple of sets of keys – house and car: an emergency pair of tights, our driving license and insurance, train or bus tickets, folding umbrella , and an i-phone.    If you have a long bus or train ride to work, maybe you like to read the newspaper or take a book ?     Almost certainly most of us have been guilty of shoving the odd small piece of shopping into our purse , but what a relief to know the Supermarket Cashier will automatically give us a carrier bag if we pop in to get something for supper !

Now we have get rid of the basics, we can let our imagination run wild and imagine what other interesting and unusual things we confine to our purses !

For my second example:  We are a pet loving family, with two rescued dogs , but at the time had, sadly, just lost our two adult cats.   Cruising along a narrow road through a small village on her way to visit friends, my daughter-in-law noticed a young feral cat on a building site next to to the road .  On her way back , the kitten was still there.  She stopped her car and went to see the kitten only to find that he appeared to be alone – no sign of mother – and that he had a broken back leg.  Thinking that his chances of survival were slim, she went back to her car and quickly emptied the contents of her bag onto the floor , and poped the kitten into her handbag to bring home!  In the car she used her Purse Hook to hang the bag from the headrest to keep it upright. Her mere necessity, ‘repository’ or fashion statement had become a portable ambulance!  These clever little purse hangers certainly need to be strong!
